This material is created from very uniform nanoparticles of silica dioxide and water—the same makeup as naturally formed opals in Mother Nature. 

Even though these opals are man made no dyes are used.
They are grown with the same properties as real opals are just like in the ground how even they form as far as color or matrix is unique and random.
They also do not need any special care as far as storing them in a cool place or in water as some people recommend doing with nature opals
